Charlotte Catholic High School 5-star forward Blanca Thomas has announced her commitment to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. According to ESPN's HoopGurlz Recruiting Rankings, Thomas is the country's No. 10 overall prospect in the class of 2024.

Thomas picked the Tar Heels out of a top 10 that also consisted of Duke University, the University of Louisville, the University of Michigan, NC State University, the University of Notre Dame, Stanford University, the University of South Carolina, the University of Tennessee, and Virginia Tech.

The 6-foot-5 post player has been a star at Catholic since she entered as a freshman in 2020. She averaged 18.3 points and 13.6 rebounds over 12 games during the season that was shorted by the pandemic.

Over the first three years of her career, Thomas has scored 1,189 points and accumulated 804 rebounds.

Charlotte Catholic has an impressive 64-14 overall record since Thomas entered the program. Last season, Catholic fell to Lake Norman in the 4A West regional final. The Cougars finished with a record of 25-7.

Thomas is one of three 5-star prospects from North Carolina in the class of 2024. Grace Christian's Sarah Strong is ranked No. 5 overall by ESPN and North Pitt's Zamareya Jones is ranked No. 14.
