Only having four players score in a championship game isn't often a recipe for success. But if you're the Cannon School girls basketball team, you've got the players to pull it off.

Cannon School won the N.C. Independent Schools Athletic Association 4A championship on Saturday at North Raleigh Christian Academy by a 62-51 over Providence Day.

Cannon School (23-7) led 30-18 at halftime. Of the Cougars' seven losses, five came to out-of-state teams, one came to 3A champ Grace Christian of Sanford, and the other came to a non-affiliated team.

Madison Drayton led the Cougars with 21 points, but all four players who scored had at least 11 points.

Providence Day (21-10), which lost by 16 and 5 points in its two previous meetings with conference foe Cannon, got 22 points from super sophomore Jaida McClure. The Chargers were the 2-seed in the 4A bracket and steamrolled Rabun Gap of Georgia in the semifinals by a 41-15 score.

Scoring Summary
